Hungary have bagged 87 goals in 32 games, giving them emphatically the best goals-scored-per-game ratio in World Cup history (2.72). It is followed by Brazil (2.08), Germany (2.07), Türkiye (2.00) and France (1.86). Ferenc Puskas, Sandor Kocsis and the Magical Magyars hold the record for goals at one edition, courtesy of a mind-blowing 27 in five matches in 1954 (5.4 per game). They were also the highest-scoring team at France 1938, with 15 goals in four assignments (3.75). Furthermore, Hungary hold two of the joint-three-biggest victories in the competition. They thrashed Korea Republic 9-0 at Switzerland 1954, and El Salvador 10-1 at Spain 1982, when Laszlo Kiss hit a record-setting hat-trick after rising from the bench.
